Alex Dienner’s experience with Empower Shigamani
“This past July I had the privilege of participating in what God’s doing through Dunamis Connections in the Shigamani Village of South Africa.
What stood out to me about Project Shigamani can be boiled down to one word: ownership. Through Dunamis and Henry’s leadership, the locals have embraced the project as their own, choosing to grow in leadership by putting their faith into action and being part of the transformation they wish to see around them.
Along with a mission team from Brazil, I got a first-hand experience seeing the local team of employees running the bakery and supermarket, listening to them share about how this job opportunity has given them honor, value, and practical leadership skills. Each one testified to how their life – and even their faith – has been changed as a result of joining this team. And, as I listened to each of them share, I thought to myself - this is what the Kingdom of God looks like: individuals, and therefore a whole community, being empowered to reach their God-given potential, together. I was reminded of the verse in Ephesians 2:10, which says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
What a great honor to see this mission truly transform a community to walk in the good works God has for them!”
